15 min | LED Performance

ParaLines is the newest act, conceived as part of a longer performance project currently in the making. The work explores new ways of using light for manipulation, moving away from traditional entertainment forms and offering an abstract visual experience closer to a contemporary art exhibition. It is also a work of illustration and musical expression, as the source of all light used in the show originates from hand-drawn images by the artist, created specifically in dialogue with the music.

Using custom programmable LED instruments, the piece creates a shifting visual language in which bodies and objects appear and disappear between blinding brightness and complete darkness. The dramaturgy unfolds through contrast of motion and stillness, where one creates the other —guided by rhythm, composition, and presence rather than a fixed narrative.

This show is more suitable for indoors given the importance of darkness. It can be also performed as a site-specific performance – as a part of the act there are many decorative staffs that interact with the performer, that can be placed in ways matching each location, and even in various numbers. For its contemporary style, it’s also suitable for art galleries, exhibitions, and places where a regular lightshow or circus-themed acts aren’t suitable.

The main advantages are the quick setup (around 1 min) and the possibility of performing the act at a very small space. Given its dramaturgy, it is also suitable for other-than-usual performance spaces. In smaller venues, the strength of the LED equipment will light up the whole space and bring a unique ambiance during the show.
